Thomas Cook is an Austin based Artist and oil painter. Born in Baltimore MD, he studied painting at Savannah College of Art and Design. After through-hiking the Appalachian Trail in 2010, he spent time in Salt Lake City UT, and landed in Austin in 2015. Thomas’ work draws heavily on the landscapes and surroundings he has lived in throughout his life. Observing the way humans have altered the landscape around them Thomas’ work focuses on the intersection between nature and human made structures. Thomas has been showing in Austin studio tours and shows for the past eight years, and is a member of the Bolm Arts gallery collective. He has shown in the Dougherty Art Center, Good Luck Have Fun Gallery, and at the Wild Basin Creative Research Center as part of his 2023 Residency there.
