Bio

tomThomas Cook was born in Baltimore Maryland, 1983. He lived in Baltimore for most of his life and attended Calvert Hall College High School. Tom recieved formal training in drawing and oil painting by Victor Janeshefski who remained his teacher throughout high school. With Victor, Thomas learned classical rendering of the figure, landscape, and still-life.

Thomas was accepted to the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2001 under scholarship, where he earned a B.F.A. degree in painting. He also studied a minor in Illustration, graduating Suma Cum Laudi in 2006. Thomas has won many awards within the Savannah College of Art and Design and has been commissioned and had works purchased by many private collectors. He also spent time abroad studying in Lacoste, France.

Thomas Cook’s artwork ranges from realistic portraits to works with pattern and animal images, some having environmental meaning. The patterns which started as portraitry backdrops now appear in almost all his works and play many roles in his paintings. He is currently taking commissions for portraits and animal paintings, please contact the artist for more information.

“If I am the Rembrandt of bagels, Tom Cook is the James Beard of painting.”

The Fox and the Hair

Here is a commission done for Erin Wessling to hang in her apartment in Bangkok! A triptic which was a little different for me. It turned out nicely. I hope to see a photo of it in place.
